Roma have all-but completed the signing of Fluminese’s attacking midfielder Gerson for €15 million.

Despite uncertainty over coach Rudi Garcia’s future, the Lupi are pressing ahead with their ambitions to sign the Rio De Janeiro-born youngster, who broke into the Fluzão first-team in February 2015 before going on to make several appearances for the Brazil Under-20 side.

Il Tempo report that the deal was completed when Fluminese president Peter Siemsen travelled to the Italian capital yesterday along with Gerson’s agent Roberto Calenda, although no official confirmation has been forthcoming.

Due to Serie A rules on signing young players from abroad, 18-year-old Gerson will not be available to appear for the Giallorossi until next season, but is expected to move to the Eternal City in January for further assessment and a likely loan move to a fellow Serie A club.
