Cagliari coach Massimo Rastelli said Inter’s strength was the decisive factor after the Rossoblu lost 3-0 in the Coppa Italia.

Goals that came from Rodrigo Palacio, Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic sent the spirited Serie B side back to Sardinia with no quarter-final meeting to prepare for.

“For an hour of the game we played very well,” Rastelli told Rai Sport.

“However in the last half-hour we saw the strength of Inter,” he added.

“I say the score did not reflect how we played, but we know the performance was good.”

Prior to the upcoming winter break Rastelli’s team would have participated in nine games in less than a month.

“It is inevitable our showings on the pitch and those present would change.”

“We will have played nine games from late November to the end of December soon.

“Our main aim regardless of this is to win the league, but we still wanted to do well today and did so for 60 minutes.

“It won’t be easy to get promoted into Serie A, but that is our sole focus.”
