AC Milan full-back Davide Calabria has admitted the Rossoneri need to perform to a higher standard than they did in their Coppa Italia win over Serie B side Crotone.

Giacomo Bonaventura and M’Baye Niang netted in extra-time to seal progression for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.

“We absolutely need to do better,” the youngster said to Rai Sport. “They are a strong team and we knew that so to win today was always the most important thing and we did that.”

“They are in Serie B but they are not easy to deal with,” he added.

“They play good football. It was important to win.”

Milan will face Sampdoria in the next round of the cup and Calabria insists the trip to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris will be a difficult one.

“It is never easy against Samp but we hope we can do well in this competition.

“We will give everything we have to go all the way in the cup.”
