1-1 draw with Lazio in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The French side completed a solid group stage in second place and qualified for Monday’s draw for the knockout stages.

“The spirit of the team in this match was on full show,” Galtier told reporters during his post match press conference.

“We managed to come from behind against a very good team. Even though we aimed to win, we still did not lose.

“I would also like to remind everyone when we visited Italy and lost by only one goal with nine men against 11.

“We have scored in every game in the group and that includes 10 goals.

“This is a good thing to have.”

Galtier elected to start a few inexperienced players, yet they held their own against an experienced Lazio side.

“The team faced Lazio well and stood up to them.”

“We could have even won with our players.

“I am satisfied with what players I picked for this match.”

The aforementioned draw takes place on Monday, with the 49-year-old coach insisting he would prefer an easy draw over one of the top teams.

“I do not want a ‘big’ side.”

“The adventure must continue for as long as possible.

“As we came second we will be coming up against sides who were in the Champions League or those who finished top in the Europa League.

“Obviously here [France] I will hear people say it would be nice to meet a big . . . No!

“We want an opponent we can fight and win against.

“If it is a big team, well, we’ll just have to try to eliminate them.”
