Alessandria coach Angelo Gregucci has voiced his joy after his side somehow managed to knock out Genoa in the Coppa Italia to reach the quarter-finals.
L’Orso took the lead in the match through winger Manuel Marras and they held back a tide of Grifone attacks until stoppage time when Leonardo Pavoletti equalised. However, in the 114th minute substitute Riccardo Bocalon scored a stunning winner.
“They are a large club who have a big history,” said Gregucci after the match.
“This team has shown extraordinary quality to qualify for the next round, it was a result that will go down in history.
“In all my career, I’ve never been able to celebrate under stands at both ends of the stadium, but tonight the applause that the Genoa fans gave us is a source of great pride and satisfaction.
“Now let’s enjoy this moment, but let’s also not forget that our first objective remains getting promoted from Lega Pro.“
