following Andrea Mandorlini’s dismissal.

The Gialloblu sit bottom of Serie A without a win from their opening 14 fixtures.

Verona confirmed on the club’s official website that Delneri had been appointed as coach with Francesco Conti as his assistant and Maurizio D’Angelo plus Luca Alimonta will make up the rest of the backroom staff.

“I thank the club for the opportunity they have given me, I was really missing football,” said Delneri to reporters at his official presentation.

“Verona is a great place and the club can be proud of its brilliant support.

“The first thing that I must work on above all is the squad’s mental state.

“Mandorlini did a great job and it’s a big responsibility for me to follow him. I would like to be able to achieve what he did here.

“I am convinced that I have a lot of quality at my disposal and I believe that we can stay up.”

Delneri was at the helm of Verona’s local rivals Chievo as the Flying Donkeys first won promotion to Serie A and he is reportedly on a contract until June 2016 without a clause to extend it.
