Inter have rejected an offer from Real Madrid for their Colombian defender Jeison Murillo.

The 23-year-old joined the Nerazzurri over the summer for an initial fee of €8 million from Granada.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Spanish giants were pondering an offer worth €35m as they were keen on linking the centre-back with his international team-mate James Rodriguez.

Rafa Benitez’s side are not thought to be desperate to complete a deal on account of them already being well-stocked in defence.

However, Inter coach Roberto Mancini regards the defender as indispensable and will attempt to veto any move so Murillo is  expected to remain at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as the Nerazzurri are not willing to open negotiations with Los Blancos.

Real Madrid’s great rivals Barcelona have also been named as a party interested in Murillo.

Murillo has scored one goal from 12 Serie A starts for his club as Inter sit top of Serie A following 15 fixtures.
