Inter coach Roberto Mancini spoke of his side’s improvement after they eased past Cagliari 3-0 in the Coppa Italia.
Goals from Rodrigo Palacio, Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic capped off an easy win for the Nerazzurri, sending them through to the quarter-finals of the cup.
“Things continue to get better for us,” Mancini told Rai Sport.
“I came to Inter to try to help out over a year ago.
“The season is a long process and we will still have many difficulties to overcome.
“However, we do head into the Christmas period top of the table which we are happy about.”
Mancini made a number of changes to his team for the cup tie, continuing the tactic of deploying a rotational system.
“I like to rotate players to keep them all prepped,” added the Italian.
“We have a gluttony of good players so we do change them often.
“Of course, there is still work to be done.”
One of those players picked for Tuesday’s match was the 23-year-old Croatian Brozovic, who scored a wonderful curled effort to make it 2-0.
“He [Brozovic] is still very young and he has a lot of room for improvement,” Mancini went on.
“It is likely he will become a great midfielder in the future.”
