Higuain Handanovic Napoli interIt was a big week of goals in Serie A, with all but three sides finding the back of the net over the weekend.

Napoli made their way to top spot after winning the battle of the leaders against Inter on Monday night.

Whereas rivals Roma and Lazio both suffered defeats to teams from the North, while Juventus thumped Palermo 3-0 in the Sicilian’s first home game under their new coach.

There were also goal-feasts with Frosinone and Udinese both taking out victories in a 3-2 score line and a rampant Milan smashing Sampdoria 4-1.

Torino and Carpi both took away full points from their games while Sassuolo and Fiorentina played out the only draw of the round – ending 1-1.

Check out our pick of the best five goals of the round below.

5. Gonzalo Higuain – Napoli

Gonzalo Higuain’s second goal of the night basically wrapped up the result for Napoli, in arguably their biggest win of the season so far.

A long header from midfield was expertly placed in front of the running Argentine, who took the ball past two defenders and lifted it over the keeper with ease.

The goal sent the Stadio San Paolo crowd into a frenzy, as they witnessed their boys fly right to the top of the table with the 2-1 win.

4. Lorenzo Tonelli – Empoli

It took just five minutes for the hosts to take the lead against Lazio, with this beautiful diving header from Lorenzo Tonelli.

The 25-year-old found enough space inside the box to leap towards the nicely timed corner-ball from Leandro Parades. The ball rocketed into the right side of the net after connecting with Tonelli’s head mid-air, leaving no chance for the keeper to make miracle save.

The goal remained as the only score of the match and handed Empoli their fifth victory of the season.

3. Cyril Thereau – Udinese

The Frenchman’s quick reactions helped Udinese take the lead in the 46th minute and charge towards an exciting 3-2 victory away from home.

A miss kick from Manuel Iturra inside the box bobbled its way to a lonesome Thereau standing outside the left goalpost. The 32-year-old, who had his back to the goal, masterfully flicked the ball behind him with his right boot into the open goal.

It was the first of the two clever goals he would put past his former employers on the day.

2. Roberto Inglese – Chievo

This cracking long distance goal brought Chievo back into the game, levelling the scores up at 2-2 in the 72nd minute.

A quick pass from midfield found Roberto Inglese, with his back to goal, well outside the box. The 24-year-old quickly turned his defender and smacked an absolute pearler of a strike from long-range into the back of the net.

The young Italian’s efforts confirmed the faith showed by coach Rolando Maran, who had substituted him on the field just 10 minutes before the goal.

1. Alejandro Gomez – Atalanta

Alejandro Gomez’s magical finish silenced the home crowd at the Stadio Olimpico, as the La Dea went 1-0 up.

The speedy Argentine made a brilliant interception from a poor defensive ball from Roma, before sprinting to the edge of the box and finessing his shot into the back of the net.

The impressive individual effort from Gomez started a landslide of momentum for his side, who ended up 2-0 winners in a solid performance.
