AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo is expected to extend his stay at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and sign an extension to his current contract.

The 30-year-old joined the Rossoneri in May 2012 after his contract at Fiorentina had expired and went on to earn the club captaincy just a year later.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a three year extension has been agreed by both parties and is only a matter of time before the Italy international puts pen to paper on a contract which will expire in June 2019.

The former Atalanta player left La Dea in 2005 to join the Gigliati and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club.

Montolivo has made 85 appearances for Milan, scoring seven goals in the process.
