AC Milan will attempt to cut their wage bill in the January transfer window to help raise funds for new signings.

After Milan’s summer spending spree which saw the club sign the likes of Carlos Bacca and Andrea Bertolacci, the Rossoneri must reach the Champions League next season to balance the books.

However, the Diavolo currently find themselves seven points off third-place and as a result are looking to improve their squad in the transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, to fund these new signings Milan will look to sell goalkeeper Diego Lopez, defender Rodrigo Ely, Philippe Mexes, Cristian Zapata and midfielder Antonio Nocerino.

Ideally, the club would also like to let go of midfielder Nigel De Jong and possibly winger Alessio Cerci, if the right bid comes in for the Italian.
