Gabriel Barbosa santosFiorentina are targeting two players in South America as the January transfer window nears its closure, in a bid to strengthen their Scudetto hopes.

With Giuseppe Rossi leaving on loan and Mario Suarez ready to move to England, coach Paulo Sousa has been scouting possible reinforcements to cover their losses.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Viola continue to track the movements of Santos’ Gabriel Barbosa. The 19-year-old striker has been considered to be the heir to Neymar following the latter’s move to Barcelona, and are not willing to sell unless their asking price of around €15-20 million is met.

However, Fiorentina will have to move fast in order to secure their man, nicknamed ‘Gabigol’, as there is fierce competition from both the Premier League and La Liga.

Another player who finds himself on the Firenze radar comes in the shape of Emanuel Mammana. The 19-year-old defender also plies his trade currently in South America, but again the stumbling block appears to be the price, with River Plate wanting an offer of equal or greater value to €10 million.
