Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini is hoping for a busy end to the January transfer window to make his team more competitive in Serie A.

Winger Diego Perotti has been heavily linked with a move to Roma this winter but his coach Gasperini wants him to remain at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, while also having the desire to sign more players to strengthen the squad.

“The transfer market will enter a decisive phase this week,” he told Sky Sport Italia after the game against Palermo on Sunday.

“I hope Perotti stays with us and that we can get someone else in to make Genoa more competitive.”

Discussing the 4-0 victory over the Rosanero, Gasperini claimed he was pleased with the performances put in by his players.

“Today the team played well, we were able to express ourselves better and were able to create many scoring opportunities,” he said.

The three points puts Genoa seven points clear of the relegation zone in the Serie A league table.
