Premier League giants Manchester United are close to signing Luca Ercolani from Serie D side Forli.

The 16-year-old Italian happens to be a centre-half and was born in Ravenna back in 1999 before plying his trade at Cesena until just last year. The teenager is said to be a Juventus fan but was on trial at Manchester United for the past two months.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils are set to acquire the services of the Forli man and a deal is imminent, with an official announcement set to come in the coming days.

United are willing to offer Ercolani yearly wages in the region of €60,000 with a possible bonus too. The Italian defender is expected to go straight into the academy setup, once the move is completed.

The 16-year-old was scouted by David Williams, the same scout who brought Guiseppe Rossi and Federico Macheda to Old Trafford in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
