Paulo Sousa FiorentinaFiorentina coach Paulo Sousa praised the performance of his side in their comfortable 2-0 win over Torino on Sunday afternoon.

The Gigliati were able to beat Il Toro with one stunning free kick from Josip Ilicic and a thumping header from Gonzalo Rodriguez, as they rarely got out of third gear.

“We have belief in our ability and the way we play,” said Sousa after the match to Sky Sport Italia.

“To win things you need quality, the guys have great belief in their strengths; we can achieve great things this season.

“The new signings? Now we have other options which adds depth to our squad, as we showed today. It will require a bit of time to integrate all of them, but doing this is much easier when you’re winning.

“We always work to improve ourselves. We must also improve the team’s cohesive ability, both in terms of our individual quality and the team’s, so we can win this season.

“Can we win the Scudetto? We want to be more competitive. Today, after two defeats, my boys have made it clear that they have belief in their own ability. This makes me happy, the guys deserve success. ”

The Portuguese also talked about his tactical planning for the match as well as praising the performance of Ilicic.

“It takes time to look for new tactical solutions, in training it’s much easier,” added Sousa.

“It was not easy against Torino, but slowly the team found their rhythm, and using two strikers today has helped us to develop our game.

“Ilicic improved a lot, especially in his defensive work, although today he needed to be more clinical in front of goal, he could have won the game earlier for us. ”
