Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has insisted that Roma are still aiming to win the Serie A championship this season.
The Giallorossi recently dropped to fifth place in the Italian league standings, although the Polish international is optimistic about regaining their place at the peak of the domestic table and is also confident of gradually closing the gap upon the teams above them.
“We are still pointing towards the Scudetto,” said the ex-Arsenal man to Sky Sport Italia. “This is the path that we are on and it remains our objective.
“The championship is extremely balanced and it is interesting that there are five squads with only four points that separate them. Every week we can close the points gap with the teams above us.”
Roma will travel to Chievo on Wednesday afternoon and the 25-year-old has insisted that he and his teammates are keen to start 2016 in positive fashion.
“We want to start the year well and get back ahead of those teams who have surpassed us,” he concluded.
