Mario Suarez FiorentinaFiorentina’s Mario Suarez is no longer on the radar of French side Olympique de Marseille, with the Spaniard now close to a switch with Watford FC instead.

L’OM were said to have been long-term admirers of Suarez and it was believed that they were hoping to capture the former Atletico Madrid man on loan, following his difficult start to life in Tuscany.

However, according to Marseille-based newsaper La Provence, Les Olympiens have now dropped all interest in Suarez and will no longer continue negotiations for the player.

The news comes after a breakdown in communications with one of their current loanees, Lucas Silva, who is currently owned by Real Madrid.

The Brazilian, much like Suarez, has failed to impress during his opening six months and is now causing problems within the French club’s hierarchy, with contrasting opinions on whether to terminate his loan or not.

As a result, the majority of the club’s time and resources will now be spent trying to solve their current dilemma, forcing them to cut all ties with Suarez for the time being.

A move to English side Watford now looks more likely for the midfielder, with the Hornets left with little competition for his signature.
