Mario Balotelli AC MilanFormer AC Milan icon Alessandro Costacurta attacked Mario Balotelli, claiming the striker isn’t worthy to play for the club.

Balotelli has netted just twice in nine league appearances, since rejoining the Rossoneri on a season-long loan and his future remains undetermined, as many still believe the 25-year-old hasn’t proven himself, although he has been sidelined by injury.

“In my Milan, Balotelli would never have played, in fact, he probably wouldn’t have even been invited into the dressing room,” Costacurta told Corriere della Sera.

“When Gennaro Gattuso arrived, he wasn’t able to control himself either, but he was smart, he fell inline and adapted himself to the club.”

Despite his criticism of Balotelli, Costacurta remained confident that Milan were starting to play better:

“Sinisa [Mihajlovic] has done a good job of keeping the group together and hopefully he can continue to do so.”

The iconic defender was also asked about his future prospects within football.

“I thought about becoming a coach, but I wasn’t very good, so I decided to go into television instead,” Costacurta went on.

“But there are always opportunities, so maybe one day I’ll go coach Inter,” he joked.

Costacurta made his debut for the Rossoneri in 1986 and made 663 club appearances for the Diavolo, winning seven Scudetti during his 20-year plus career.
