After a tumultuous season with AC Milan, goalkeeper Diego Lopez has his sights set on a return to Spain at the end of the season.

The forgotten shot stopper featured in the Rossoneri’s first eight matches of the campaign before being displaced by teenager Gianluigi Donnarumma who has since claimed the starting gloves for himself.

According to Tuttosport, Lopez has had enough of his current role as second-fiddle and is ready to head back to La Liga.

The former Real Madrid keeper has made 36 appearances for Milan since 2014.

Replacing Lopez as expected backup next season could be Milan-owned Gabriel, currently on loan at Napoli.

The 23-year-old Brazilian joined the Partenopei in July but has failed to register an appearance in Serie A for the club with Pepe Reina firmly established as Napoli’s number one.

Gabriel made seven appearances for Milan during the 2013-2014 season.
