Hamsik: It was nice to make history with Napoli

Hamsik - NapoliNapoli midfielder Marek Hamsik was delighted to make a piece of history with the Partenopei on Sunday after his side defeated Carpi 1-0, breaking a club record in the process with their eight consecutive Serie A victory in a row.

The Azzurri now lead the table on 56 points after round 24, two points ahead of Juventus in second, as the two sides get ready to face each other on Saturday night at the Juventus Stadium.

“Winning on Sunday was tough, because Carpi were in good condition,” Hamsik told reporters.

“We did it, we showed the strength to win the game and make it eight wins in a row, it was nice to make history.

“We must look ahead to Saturday now as we face a very difficult match against Juventus.

“It will be a massive challenge for us, but we have to show we can handle being top of the table.

The Slovakian international has made 21 Serie A appearances for the Partenopei so far this campaign, finding the net on five occasions and contributing six assists.

“It going to be a special occasion and the whole of Naples is expecting a lot from us,” he continued.

“For us, however, it will be a normal week in the sense we are always focused.

“We will work with serenity and great intensity and we will try as always to win the game.

“It will not be the decisive match because there is still another 13 games to go after it. the road is long.”
