Verona - InterHellas Verona threw away the chance to claim their second Serie A win on the trot as they drew 3-3 with Inter at the Stadio Bentegodi on Sunday.

Four of the six goals in the game were headers, with Jeison Murillo putting the visitors ahead before Filip Helander and Eric Pisano turned the game around. Verona extended their lead through Artur Ionita, but a comeback inspired by Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic made the scores even.

The Nerazzurri had a bright start and took the lead when Murillo headed home a corner in the eighth minute and gave his team a reward for their positive start.

In the 12th minute, however, Verona got their own back and cancelled out Murillo’s opening goal when Helander scored his own header from a corner to beat Samir Handanovic.

Just three minutes later and the excellent start from Inter was completely scrapped as Pisano put the hosts ahead with yet another header, this time from a well executed free kick.

The second half began in the same vein as the first with Roberto Mancini having to analyse his set piece problems yet again, when a third Luca Marrone set piece led to a goal with Ionita heading home to make it an astonishing 3-1 scoreline.

Icardi made sure that the game wasn’t over yet, however, when he got his tenth of the season after poking the ball past Pierluigi Gollini after pouncing on a Perisic assist.

Just over ten minutes from full-time and things were all square again as Verona threw away their two-goal cushion when an Icardi cross found the feet of Perisic who guided it home.

The shared points mean that Inter now sit fourth in the Serie A standings, while Verona are four points behind at the bottom of the table.
