atalanta veronaHellas Verona will lock horns with Atalanta on Wednesday evening at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in what could be a pivotal match for both sides.

Both sides come off the back of draws against Torino and Sassuolo respectively on the weekend.

The home side have not lost to the visitors since being promoted back to the top flight in the 2013-14 season and Verona fans experienced the most successful moment in their club’s history when they won the Scudetto against the Bergamo side in the 1984-85 season.

This would give fans the belief that the game is winnable but the hosts are yet to win a game this whole season amassing 11 draws and no victories, sitting a huge 12 points off safety.

Therefore, a victory could be the very last chance for Luigi Delneri to salvage their season.

They have only picked up five points at home and have scored a paltry eight goals.

Atalanta are in much better shape in the league table but are on just as bad a run of form as their rivals. Edy Reja’s men have gone seven games without a victory and have slid quickly down the table.

Moreover the Orobici have only gained a third of their 27 point haul on the road with just two victories against Roma and Empoli.

Both clubs have been particularly active in the January transfer window with Atalanta selling some of their most prized assets including Alberto Grassi, Maxi Moralez and German Denis.

Reja may give a debut to new signing Berat Djimsiti as well as a first start to Marco Borriello, whilst Verona could line up with new Fiorentina loan signing Gilberto and Juventus loanee Luca Marrone.
