Higuain Sarri NapoliNapoli forward Gonzalo Higuain has lauded coach Maurizio Sarri, saying the former Empoli coach has made him a better player.

Since Sarri’s arrival, Higuain has lit up the Serie A goalscoring charts scoring a remarkable 24 goals in 24 league starts this season.

“Sarri is like my father, he’s constantly trying to make a better player.” said the Argentine in an interview with Undici Calcio è Cultura.

“When he arrived he told me right away what he thought of me, whether it was a compliment or not, because you only grow as a player when you learn from your mistakes.

“He is an honest man who loves teaching how to play good football.

Higuain also spoke about his form this season, admitting that he has huge desire to win. “I’m mentally strong because I always like to win.

“If I react in an aggressive way to something it’s because I always play to win. Football came naturally to me as a child and my biggest ambition was to be a professional footballer.”

Finally, the former Real Madrid striker said he was happy in Naples and had no plans to leave any time soon.

“The president worked hard to sign me. I live in the moment and I’m enjoying living in Naples, I’m thankful for all the love the fans show me.

“In my free time I try to do other things so I’m not always thinking about football.”
