Italy announce friendly against Finland

Italy-MarchisioThe FIGC have announced Italy will face Finland on June 6, in their final friendly prior to the European Championships this summer in France.

The location for the friendly against Finland has yet to be set.

This will be the 13th fixture between the two nations, with the Azzurri having the advantage, with 10 wins, one draw and just one defeat which was their first meeting, which took place in 1912 during the Olympic Games held in Sweden.

The two nations last encounter was a friendly in 2004, where then coach Marcello Lippi lead the Italians to a 1-0 victory.

As part of the build-up to the Euros, the Italians host Spain at the Dacia Arena on March 24, before travelling to Munich to take on World cCampions Germany, on March 29.

The Azzurri will enter the tournament in France unseeded, grouped with Belgium, the Republic of Ireland, and Sweden.

Finland failed to qualify for the upcoming Euros.
