Lazio president angry with media crusade

claudio lotitoLazio president Claudio Lotito says the Italian media are on a crusade against him despite his best efforts to stamp out racism from the clubs Ultras.

The Biancocelesti were fined €50,000 and handed a two-match partial stadium closure after racist chanting was directed at Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly during the Roman club’s 2-0 defeat to the Partenopei on Wednesday night at the Stadio Olimpico.

“When you make assessments, you should take into account what the club has done in recent years,” Lotito told La Repubblica.

“The Media are constantly having a go at me, but are contiguous to certain other environments [a reference to the Ultras’ boycott in protect at segregation in the Curva Nord.

“They say they have eliminated violence, yet we get a two game closure.

“But it’s not racism, there are black lads that play for Lazio too.”

Also according to Friday’s Il Corriere dello Sport, the Curva Sud will be fully opened for the next two home games to home supporters as this section is usually reserved for supporters of away sides.
