MihajlovicDespite a positive run of results, AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic conceded his team have not reached any of their season goals ahead of their second-leg Coppa Italia tie against Alessandria.

The Lega Pro side have been the fairytale of this season’s competition following triumphs over both Palermo and Genoa, and the Serbian coach emphasised the importance of the match to his team.

“We have the ability to reach the first of our season’s goal in reaching the finals,” he told the press ahead of the game.

“All of us are determined to win the cup and I expect a great performance from everyone, especially those who have played less often.

“I especially expect [Mario] Balotelli and [Jeremy] Menez to use the opportunity as the two of them will play and I want them to answer the call.”

The Rossoneri are unbeaten in 11 matches, winning seven along the way, and while the 47-year-old was pleased with their performances, he was quick to put things into perspective.

“Credit goes to the boys who have reacted following a difficult period,” he continued. “We have to continue like this.”

“The work pays off but we have not done anything yet, we are still sixth in the standings.

“We must only think about one match at a time. Sassuolo will be a difficult trip but I am only speaking of our match with Alessandria, the most important match of the season.”

Milan enter Tuesday’s clash holding a 1-0 advantage over their Lega Pro opponents where a clean-sheet would guarantee their place in the final.
