Digne RomaRoma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has praised his teammates performance following their 3-1 win over Carpi on Friday night.

The Giallorossi were held by the Serie A minnows until the 55th minute when Lucas Digne broke the deadlock, although the Belgium international has claimed that the visitors were always comfortable in the match and is particularly happy after striker Edin Dzeko ended his goalscoring drought.

“I think that up to the Digne goal we had the game in control,” said the 27-year-old to Premium Sports after the match.

“In the end we deserved to win. We are happy that Dzeko scored because we know that he is an important player for us, with undoubted quality. Now we have to continue like this.”

Nainggolan also claimed that Roma will do their utmost to overcome their tough challenge against Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16, although downplayed their chances of securing the Serie A title.

“Now we’re going to prepare so we can try to give everything to win,”he added. “Although we know it will be difficult.

“The goal this season was to win the Scudetto, however now the aim is to finish in the top three.

“It’s unlikely we’ll be able to catch up to the top two.”
