Soccer: Serie A; Genoa-LazioLazio coach Stefano Pioli was impressed with his defence after his side came away from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris with a point after drawing against Genoa.

The match itself finished 0-0, with only Stefano Mauri looking as though he’d break the deadlock with a header that hit the crossbar.

“We analysed the previous match against Napoli in regards to the defence,” Pioli told Premium Sport.

“The biggest problem was putting pressure on the player on the ball.

“Today though, the defence played out a good game.

“They gave the Genoa attackers no chances.”

Dusan Basta was withdrawn during the game with what could be another name to add to the growing list of injuries for Pioli to deal with.

“Basta had a muscle problem,” Pioli added.

“He will be evaluated.

“It’s the third game in six days and it will always be tough to play at our required level because of this.

“We did do well though.”
