Atalanta coach Edy Reja has praised the performance of this team, despite them drawing 0-0 with Empoli in Bergamo.
Both sides cancelled each other out as neither performed to their full capabilities. However, after losing last week to Hellas Verona, Reja was pleased with La Dea’s competent performance.
“There are times when you don’t have the confidence to score, we had four or five opportunities to score, but otherwise our performance was decent,” said Reja to Sky Sport Italia.
“Moreover, our defence was rarely tested,” he continued.
“We were more like the team we can be than in recent games.
“We would like to get into the top 10, however, we’ve had some problems recently with injuries and the like.
“We’re still trying to integrate some new signings and tactically there is still some work to be done but I still think we can do a lot this season.”
Reja also defended his new signings after he was asked whether Atalanta had a weaker squad than before the transfer window.
“I think this Atalanta is stronger than before, we have signed players capable of playing in Serie A. Our signings are equally as good as the ones who have left.”
