Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has admitted his side had a bit of luck in their 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

An own goal from Miralem Pjanic put the hosts under pressure after Diego Perotti and Alessandro Florenzi had netted.

“We were fortunate to win today, but we did nonetheless deserve to win because we scored twice,” Spaletti toldĀ Premium Sport.

“We can’t suffer this level of decline during a game even if we are winning, it’s clear today we still need to improve a great deal.

“Sampdoria grew into the game after half time, they are a strong side even if players departed in January, they did very well.”

A lot of the attention was on striker Edin Dzeko, who came on for the Giallorossi in search of his first goal since November.

“As long as you continue to pester him he will have difficulties, he’s used to better service then this,” Spalletti elaborated.

“We do have an issue of mentality, we have to be more relaxed with the result in the balance, we still lack in confidence.

“There is work to be done, we had a bit of luck today but we controlled the majority of the game,” he concluded.

Roma have closed the gap on Inter to one point and moved further away from AC Milan who dropped points.
