Vicenzo Montella FiorentinaSampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella was disappointed after his team failed to convert any of their scoring chances in the 0-0 draw against Atalanta.

The Blucerchiati tactician was satisfied with his team keeping their first clean sheet in eight Serie A matches but he felt that his team should have broken the deadlock, especially after the chances that Antonio Cassano, Dodo and Ricky Alvarez had.

“It wasn’t a spectacular game in both halves but we faced a tough team that closed all the spaces. We have created 4-5 chances and if we had exploited them, you would have seen a different game,” Montella told Radio Rai.

“Compared to other games, we did better at defensive level. At an offensive level, we could have done more because there were players of great quality on the ground.

“The team proved to be in the game, even at the end it did not lost lucidity and this is a good signal to fight again.”

Sampdoria are now level with city rivals Genoa in 16th place with 25 points in as many matches, the Blucerchiati next play against Inter on Saturday night in Milan.
