Roma coach Luciano Spalletti insisted that his team are only worrying about their Serie A fixture with Carpi.

The Giallorossi will host Real Madrid on February 17 in the Champions League but the man on the bench has promised not to play a weakened side in anticipation of the daunting fixture against the Spanish giants at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I’m only thinking about the Carpi game, some rotation may be necessary but tomorrow’s game is the priority,” said Spalletti to reporters at the pre-match press conference.

“Every Sunday is an opportunity, we have to think about things a game at a time.

“We must go on an incredible run as Juventus and Napoli have done and we can’t take any game lightly, only like that we will be able to catch up to the great teams.”

The 56-year-old also shed some light onto injuries at the club.

“[Daniele] De Rossi hasn’t improved, he’s still out but the staff are working with him and we hope he’ll back after the trip to Carpi,” Spalletti went on.

“[Francesco] Totti was training well but then he picked up a problem with his soleus muscle so he didn’t train today and he’ll be unavailable.

“[Antonio] Rudiger will be there and he’s ok, [Vasilis] Torosidis is getting better but he’s not ready while [Norbert] Gyomber won’t be there.”
