GasperiniTorino are reportedly eager to make Genoa’s Gian Piero Gasperini their coach for the 2016-17 season.

The Granata are in a disappointing 12th place with little realistic chance of qualifying for Europe and they are therefore willing to retain incumbent Giampiero Ventura until the end of the season, before bringing in a replacement.

According to Calciomercato.it, Il Toro will make do with Ventura until the end of the season before looking elsewhere.

Torino have been linked with Gasperini previously and a move to the Stadio Olimpico would mark something of a return home for the Genoa boss who is from the Piedmontese town of Grugliasco and he is president Urbano Cairo’s No.1 choice.

The Rossoblu boss has been at the Ligurian club since 2013 and is on a long-term contract which will carry on until 2018 although the Grifone may also be ready for a fresh start with the Stadio Luigi Ferraris side sitting in 16th.
