Empoli defender Vincent Laurini was ecstatic to have scored his first ever Serie A goal which earned his team a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria.

The 26-year-old’s 82nd minute strike ended a four-match losing streak for the Azzurri, providing the right-back some relief following a difficult run of results.
“There’s a great deal of emotion,” he told Sky Sports Italia. “The first goal is beautiful but I am also satisfied that we drew.
“The important thing is to return to scoring points. It’s too bad we did not win but the performance was there and we are optimistic for the future.
Despite the draw, Empoli still remain winless in their last 10 Serie A fixtures, though Laurini insisted his team had not given up on their season.
“We have not pulled the plug,” he continued.  “There was a small decline [in form].
“It can happen in Serie A and now we have to start again.”
