3-0 defeat to Sparta Prague left Lazio’s Senad Lulic embarrassed in front of the team’s home supporters at the Stadio Olimpico.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Prague, the Biancocelesti conceded three goals in the opening half of Thursday’s second-leg, ensuring their Europa League exit for which the Bosnian labelled as inexcusable.

“We should be ashamed of ourselves,” he told Lazio Style Channel. “Going down 3-0 at half-time is inexplicable and we simply can not accept that.

“Tonight we got everything wrong. I don’t know if the problem was in our head, thinking about the quarter-finals before overcoming this round.

“Maybe the mistake was to think that they have the qualification in your pocket.”

Lazio lie a disappointing eighth in Serie A with European qualification an improbable outcome and having already dropped out of the Coppa Italia.

As such, the 30-year-old could not hide his disappointment in the team’s season of results.

“The Europa League was the only thing we had left,” he added.

“Now we simply have to end the season as positively as we can.”
