Pioli: The Europa League could save Lazio’s season
Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has claimed that his side can save their season by taking the Europa League very seriously and pushing for silverware.
The capital club drew 1-1 with Sparta Prague in the Czech capital ahead of the return leg on March 17 at the Stadio Olimpico.
“We can try to win the Europa League to redeem ourselves this season,” said Pioli to reporters. “Making the next round would be an important step forward and tomorrow’s is the most important game which is something I’ve said a lot.”
The Biancocelesti coach also feels that his side should be able to overcome a number of injury problems in the squad.
“Yes, we have injuries but we shouldn’t cry about it,” added Pioli.
“Numerically we have enough players that I can send out a competitive team.
“Veterans such as [Miroslav] Klose and [Stefano] Mauri are important, they played well on Sunday and they could be vital in a fixture such as this.”
