Alberto Grassi, who made the move from Bergamo to the Stadio San Paolo in January is yet to feature for the Partenopei, and Mario Giuffredi does not want the same thing to happen to the promising defender.

“I know that Napoli have an agreement with Atalanta that could allow them to sign Conti,” Giuffredi began. “But it is too early to speak about a move at the moment, because he must focus on continuing along this path.

“Whether or not Napoli want him now, I do not think it would be a wise move to make at this time. We must not make the same mistake as Grassi, who left and has since lost six months of his career.”

Continuing to dismiss the chances of a summer move for the 22-year-old, Giuffredi praised the transfer policy of Juventus, with regard to their interest in young talent.

“I do not think you will see Conti in a Napoli shirt next season,” he added. “The only way would be if the club bought the player but allowed him to remain in Bergamo for another year.

“Juventus have the best strategy in this situation because they identify their players but allow them to grow for longer at other clubs before bringing them back when they are ready.”
