Cristian-Brocchi AC-MilanA determined Cristian Brocchi has revealed that he is excited about the prospect of coaching AC Milan‘s first team, and has dismissed claims that it is too risky a job to take on.

Having previously guided the Rossoneri’s Primavera side, Brocchi was recently appointed in place of the outgoing Sinisa Mihajlovic, and the Italian tactician has since praised his predecessor for the hardworking mentality he instilled within the squad.

“The first thing I want to say is that I will try to follow the working culture that his squad already has,” said Brocchi in his first press conference as AC Milan boss. “This is largely because they have been excellent in terms of their work rate for the entire season.

“I have always seen them as a committed group of players and this is thanks to the work of Sinisa Mihajlovic and his staff.”

Interestingly, the former Milan player has rejected the possibility of damaging his reputation by taking the Rossoneri reins, although he has recognised that it is normal for a coach to be sacked if he fails to succeed.

“I am glad that I have been asked this question,” he added. “The verb to ruin is used in an exponential manner.

“It is not a question of whether I will fail or not, but it is logical that this opportunity involves some form of risk.

“One must have the humility to understand that if all things go well then everything is good, but if the things should start to go badly, then it is normal to obtain a new approach and that one must perhaps step aside for a great team like Milan.

“I am here to take this chance and I will aim to compete with great ambition and passion. I know that I can do it and I do not have fear.

“However, despite this ambition, I do not want to say that we will all of our seven remaining matches, but obviously me and my staff will give 100 per cent.”

Furthermore, Brocchi also touched briefly upon the future of Mario Balotelli at the club, claiming that he is an important member of the squad and could play a vital role in the latter stages of the season.

“Balotelli is an important player,” he concluded. “I like him a lot and he must succeed in playing with the same manner that he has shown recently.

“However, I still think he can give a lot more and I am sure he will be fundamental for us. I have seen in his eyes that he has the desire to do well.”

Brocchi will take charge of Milan for the first time as they prepare to take on Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday.
