Bacca BalotelliAC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has claimed that he put in a selfless performance during his side’s 1-0 victory over Sampdoria, whilst also admitting that he is conscious of the high expectations that people have of him.

The Italian featured for the Rossoneri for the full 90 minutes, as he impressed during Milan’s first win since February.

“I played for the team,”said the 25-year-old to Rai Sport. “Playing here wasn’t a simple task, I was constantly fouled by the opposition, but everyone expects a lot from me, it is normal.”

The striker was also asked about both Sinisa Mihajlovic and Cristian Brocchi, as the former was sacked earlier in the week and was replaced by the latter.

“I love both of them, but for me nothing has changed,” admitted the striker.

The on-loan Liverpool forward also revealed that he is desperate to obtain a spot in Antonio Conte’s Italy squad this summer.

“I’ll do anything to represent my country this summer,” he concluded.  “It isn’t too late to show what I can do.”

Balotelli has featured in 19 matches in all competitions for Milan this season, scoring three goals.
