Borriello AtalantaChievo coach Rolando Maran admitted his team should have taken their chances in the defeat against Atalanta on Sunday afternoon.

He added he was satisfied with fielding eight Italian players from the start, after no Italian players started in the Inter Udinese game on Saturday night.

“We could have done better when we had our chances, but this team has been extraordinary this season,” Mara told Rai Sport.

“It has been an amazing season, it’s a pity because we could have taken points against Atalanta as well.”

Chievo are still in the top half of Serie A, this year being one of the best ever in the club’s history. Maran’s side are still on track to beat the 55 points from the 2002-2003 season, Chievo’s all time best record.

“I am very happy about having eight Italian players in our starting eleven,” Maran added. “I also think today should overshadow he outstanding campaign we have had.”
