Having surpassed Fiorentina by a narrow 2-1 scoreline, Juventus‘ goalscoring hero, Alvaro Morata, has heaped praised on Gianluigi Buffon, after the veteran goalkeeper saved a late penalty to secure the Serie A win.
The Old Lady very nearly threw away a vital three points after Nikola Kalinic stepped up to take a spot kick in the final stages of the fixture, although, Buffon produced an excellent double save to award the Turin outfit bragging rights over the Fiorentine rivals.
“It was important to win in a stadium where they did not want us to do well,” said Morata to Mediaset Premium. “We have won thanks to a player who is not human, saving a splendid penalty.
“Let’s hope that we can win the Scudetto as soon as possible.”
Furthermore, Morata has also stressed that their persistence was integral in overcoming the Viola, although did admit that the hosts provided a tough challenge.
“Fiorentina are a great squad,” he added. “However, we are a very strong team and we play right until the ending, making ourselves extremely difficult to beat.”
