Cesare Prandelli, ItalyFormer Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has responded to speculation linking him with the Lazio job, saying that Aquile president Claudio Lotito is capable of making the right decision.

The Biancocelesti sacked coach Stefano Pioli in early April and Primavera coach Simone Inzaghi has taken over. Prandelli was happy with hearing that he could be the Lazio coach in 2016-17 but he believes that Lotito will pick a tactician that can work with the current squad and bring the best out of them.

“They are a great team and a great club,” he told Radio Radio.

“He is a president who knows what he wants to do and he is very attentive and then he will choose in an independent manner.

“Above all he will know how to choose the right person for the squad that he has in mind.

“I think that who will arrive at Lazio should only coach [the team]. If he does not have to think of anything else then already this is a good sign.

“It is clear that the great teams and the big clubs always want a coach as a point of reference.”
