Gianluigi Buffon – Juventus (4 Team of the Week appearances)

The Juventus captain will lift his fifth consecutive Serie A title, and made a crucial save on Nikola Kalinic’s late penalty, denying Fiorentina’s equaliser on 90 minutes. Simply the best.

Andrea Rispoli – Palermo

Provided Gilardino with the decisive assist for the 1-0 in an absolutely vital clash for Palermo, as well as working hard down the right flank throughout the game.

Kalidou Koulibaly – Napoli (5 apps)

The Partenopei may have lost in Rome, but the Senegalese was virtually insuperable, leading Napoli’s defence against one of the best attacks in Serie A.

TOTW round 35

Joao Miranda – Inter (7 apps)

The Brazilian has been the most consistent Nerazzurri player, showing his skills yet again against Udinese. Cyril Thereau’s goal was a work of beauty, but beyond this Miranda controlled the game with the usual calm.

Alfred Duncan – Sassuolo (3 apps)

His work rate was impressive as always and provided Sassuolo with total midfield dominance, helping the Neroverdi secure a victory that could lead them to an historical European spot.

Radja Nainggolan – Roma (5 apps)

The Belgian charged up and down the pitch for 90 minutes, causing nightmares for Napoli’s midfield trio while curling home the winning goal that takes Roma right back into the hunt for a second-spot finish.

Enzo Maresca – Palermo

Reinserted into the starting lineup for the most important game of the season, Maresca provided experience and character to lead the midfield line and dictate play with his quality. Indispensable.

Franco Brienza – Bologna

The veteran provided a lovely Iniesta-esque assist for Emanuele Giaccherini’s opener, before another great move contributed in the buildup for the second. His quality really made a difference in a game that didn’t count for much, aside from another three points in a strong season of the Rossoblu.

Stevan Jovetic – Inter

It feels as though the Nerazzurri should have been able to depend on Jovetic more throughout the season. The two goals he scored to beat Udinese were simple finishes, but every time he found the ball at his feet, his technique brought hope for something special.

Alberto Gilardino – Palermo

No stranger to big goals, the former Italy international scored possibly Palermo’s most important of the season, and is demonstrating a will to fight for the shirt until the very end.

Kevin Lasagna – Carpi (3 apps)

His name has awarded him worldwide fame, but his goals could award Carpi with another year in Serie A. His world class volley was enough to beat Empoli. Safety is real.
