sassuoloGiampiero Ventura insists his side played well for much of the game despite losing 3-1 to the visiting Sassuolo.

The Neroverdi made it 2-1 after Federico Peluso headed home from a corner after escaping his maker in the 75th minute, which cost Torino the chance of winning the game.

“For 75 minutes we played well, but did not defend crosses and should have done more with our own corners,” Ventura told Radio Rai.

When asked about the season’s objectives, Ventura lamented a wasted year.

“We started with certain objectives which have not been met and this creates disappointment at the club,” Ventura added. “This is a year of regret because we could have done a lot more.”

Ventura spoke of his future and rumours linking him with the soon to be vacant Italy job.

“It’s nice to be mentioned for such an important role,” Ventura said. “but I have heard many others linked too.

No one has talked to me. As for Torino, it depends on what purpose we have. We will have to discuss and see if we agree on plans for the club.”
