kovacicReal Madrid midfielder Matteo Kovacic may be set for a loan move to AC Milan.

The 22-year-old struggled to lock down a place in Los Blancos’ lineup this past season and the club may want to the player to further hone his craft before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

According to Tuttosport, the Rossoneri have an unofficial right of first refusal on the midfielder due to the long-standing friendship between vice-president Adriano Galliani and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Rossoneri boss Silvio Berlusconi seems intent on closing the deal which could make Kovacic Milan’s first signing of the summer.

The transfer is expected to be a dry loan, as Los Merengues management are not yet willing to give up on the Croatian.

The former Inter man may look favourably at a move away in order to find first team minutes again in an environment he is already more or less accustomed to.
