kovacicAC Milan are preparing to enter negotiations for Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Read Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The Rossoneri are marred in another disappointing season and will be desperate to appease a frustrated fanbase who are demanding an increase in quality next season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, club vice-president Adriano Galliani has singled out these two former Milan-based players to lead the charge for Champions League qualification next season.

Ibrahimovic is a free agent at the end of the season and can negotiate with any club of his choosing.

The Swede will command a hefty salary but the price will be offset in the absence of a transfer fee.

The well-traveled striker has recently gone on record to state that Milan are the biggest club he has played for over his illustrious career.

Kovacic is also a financially viable option, as the Diavolo are looking to take the Croatian on loan for next season.

Los Blancos are reportedly open to a temporary deal, as the ex-Inter playmaker has struggled for playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this season.

The 22-year old may look fondly at the opportunity to oppose former coach Roberto Mancini, who the midfielder did not feel wanted him while with the Nerazzurri.
