carpiCarpi coach Fabrizio Castori praised his side for their response over the second half of the season, despite being condemned to Serie B.

The Biancorossi defeated Udinese 2-1 but because Palermo emerged victorious form their match against Hellas Verona, Carpi finish the season an agonizing single point below the relegation line.

“We wanted to win in order to avoid any regret,” Castori told Sky Sport Italia immediately following the match.

“We came out on top this championship because we are a team that is genuine, one that has done something extraordinary from January onwards.

“We got back on track and became the team who had won Serie B, despite the summer revolution.

“With 28 points in the second half of the season, we found a rhythm fitting for a Europa League position.”
