Hellas Verona FC v Juventus FC - Serie AHellas Verona striker Luca Toni was lost for words after a night that saw him score during an emotional 2-1 win over Serie A champions Juventus.

The 38 year-old, who previously spent a year with the Turin giants, put the home side ahead in style with a chip from the penalty spot.

“It’s hard to say what I’m feeling right now, I can only thank all those who made this magical night possible,” Toni told Mediaset Premium.

During his three years in Verona, the 2006 World Cup winner has scored over 50 goals in all competitions, whilst appearing in over 100 matches.

“To be applauded by both sets of supporters was wonderful, it was an unforgettable evening and one I will cherish forever,” Toni added.

Toni was also quizzed upon whether his spectacular cucchiaio penalty was premeditated or not, although he stressed that it was solely down to spontaneity.

“No, I just do crazy things like that!” he added. “I couldn’t decide whether to go left or right, so I went with the chip.

“Leaving football will not be easy for me, it is one of the happiest and saddest moments for me.”

His 157th Serie A goal takes him ahead of Gigi Riva, Filippo Inzaghi and Roberto Mancini in the all-time scoring charts.
