Inter are allegedly edging ahead of the competition in their attempt to sign Feyenoord youngster Tonny Vilhena.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly on the lookout to strengthen their ranks in the middle of the park and have successfully inserted themselves into the race for the 21-year-old.

According to TuttoSport, the young midfielder is one of the most in-demand prospects in the next transfer window and the Beneamata have opened discussions with the Dutch side.

The Netherlands Under-21 international currently holds a contract with Feyenoord that runs out in June, making the player all the more enticing for teams not willing to pay a transfer fee.

Several Serie A clubs have shown interest in Vilhena, including Lazio, AC Milan and Fiorentina.

Vilhena has shown a good form throughout the season, accumulating 27 Eredivisie appearances, scoring five goals and delivering four assists.
