Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that his side found the necessary luck in order to achieve Coppa Italia glory on Saturday evening.
The Bianconeri defeated AC Milan 1-0 to lift the TIM Cup, courtesy of an Alvaro Morata strike deep into extra time, and the coach is relieved that events went the Old Lady’s way on Saturday.
“To win a cup a team must be good and lucky, but I must complement my players,” Allegri told Rai Sport immediately following the match.
“This was not an simple feat as for the past month we have trained with a drop in intensity.
“I had a decision to make; either take the match to penalties or go for the win, I chose the second option and perhaps got lucky.”
After another successful season that has seen Juventus the domestic double for a record second consecutive season, Allegri touched on the club’s objectives for next season.
“Juventus are a club that always want to win every competition,” the 48-year old noted.
“As such, next season we will aim to win our sixth consecutive title and above all, make a push for the Champions League.”
